The Winter Trail at Discovery Land
Join Conifer the reindeer and Discovery Land friends Fern, Timber, and Pebble, on a starry journey filled with wonder. As you wander through the trail, discover our twinkling experiences hidden behind our 12 secret star advent-style doors. Ride a shooting star, catch a falling star and feel their sparkle as you immerse yourself in the wonder of the festive season.
Designed to spark the imagination of adults and children alike, explore our sensory play areas, climbing features, interactive challenges and see some of our beloved features shine. Don’t forget to capture the magic under our Star Tunnel, snap a photo or two with our Giant Wreath Rainbow or Festive Giants Chair, and, of course, hop aboard Father Christmas’ Sleigh!

Discovery Land is an outdoor family nature trail, taking you through ancient woodland, green pastures, meadows and around our lakes. Throughout the walk, you’ll find plenty to entertain your young ones, from adventure play, treehouses, balance beams and climbing frames, to educational prompts and seasonal displays.

The Winter Trail runs from the 23rd November until the 5th January

Off-Peak dates include Wednesday, Thursday and Fridays during term time, and all dates between 28th December to the 5th January.
Tickets required for all aged 2+. On the door entry subject to availability. The Winter Trail closes at 5pm Monday – Saturday, 4:30pm on Sundays and Bank Holidays.
Frequently Asked Questions
How long does the Winter Trail at Discovery Land take?
We would recommend allowing at least two hours at Discovery Land. You’re welcome to move at your own pace, lingering longer at certain points throughout the walk – with many of our visitors spending the day with us!
Does the Winter Trail at Discovery Land include a visit to see Father Christmas?
Whilst both events are taking place within Discovery Land itself, tickets for the Father Christmas Experience are separate and require their own individual booking. Tickets for the Winter Trail do not include a visit to Father Christmas or entry to the Experience.
Is the Winter Trail outdoors?
The whole trail is outdoors, so wrap up warm and get ready for a festive day out in nature!
Is the Winter Trail an evening lights trail?
Whilst we will have some of our beloved features twinkling all day in true festive style, the Winter Trail will not be running into the evening for a light trail experience.
Why is my Discovery Land Winter Trail ticket charged at a different peak/off-peak rate to the advertised Father Christmas Experience ticket?
Whilst both events are taking place within Discovery Land itself, tickets for the Father Christmas Experience are separate and require their own individual booking. The busiest days for each event differ, with more available on some days than others.
Is it suitable for pushchairs?
Discovery Land is accessible for buggies, however please note we are in a natural environment where the ground can be hilly and bumpy in places.
Can I bring my dog?
Sorry, dogs are not permitted at Discovery Land.
Is it suitable for wheelchair users?
There is very limited access for wheelchairs on the Winter Trail at Discovery Land, therefore it will probably be necessary to stay around the main entrance area. To reflect this limited access, we do not charge for wheelchair users.
How long can I stay?
Please note your ticket time is your arrival time slot, you can arrive at the walk anytime within this allocated period. Once you have checked in at the walk, you can have as much time on the walk as you like within opening hours (We close at 5pm Monday – Saturday, 4:30pm Sundays and Bank Holidays).
What facilities are available?
Toilets are available at Discovery Land and within our Garden Centre. Baby-changing facilities are available at Discovery Land and within our Garden Centre.
What happens if it rains?
Discovery Land is open come rain or shine. We would always recommend keeping an eye on the weather forecast and coming prepared with wellies and your brolly!
What food/drink is available?
A selection of food and drinks options will be available on your visit. Just inside the entrance to the Discovery Land, you’ll find our Shepherd’s Hut Café. Serving chilled and hot drinks, ice-cream, snacks and marshmallows for roasting over our fire pit. Here on the Priory Farm Estate, you’ll also find our Garden Room Café (located within the Garden Centre) and our Farm Shop, where you can pick up lots of delicious items to enjoy!
School trips, parties & groups
School trips, birthday parties and groups can be booked online as normal, up to 30 tickets can be purchased per booking. Unfortunately we don’t offer any group rates or discounted tickets during our Christmas event period.
As per our booking terms, you are welcome to transfer your booking to an alternative date subject to an account being set up with us upon booking. Date changes subject to ticket availability.
